What Is EF
Technology (EFT)?
EFT
is environmentally-friendly technology developed by the U.S.
Concrete team
EFT
embraces 21st
century technology to address today’s performance and market
demands.
Performance and conservation are blended in a unique fashion to
preserve the promise of tomorrow.
FACTS About EFT
EFT produces concrete
products that conserve natural resources, reduce pollutants and
bring green foundations to all types of concrete construction.
These Green buildings
are much more than today’s architectural trend, they promise a
brighter future.
U.S. Concrete and its
operating companies reduced potential CO2
emissions more than 656,000,000 pounds in 2006.
In 2006
Ingram Enterprises saved
59,464,000 pounds
CO2
(carbon dioxide) emissions
What is unique about this Initiative?
While promoting the
performance of materials and designs utilized in EFT is not new –
promoting the environmental benefits IS.
U.S. Concrete is the first national concrete company to formalize a
company-wide commitment to ensure concrete performance while
minimizing environmental impact.
What Is This Initiative About?
It’s
about maintaining efficiency while addressing:
This is NOT about politics and its not about U.S.

Its About...
CEMENT AND CO2
EMISSIONS
In recent decades, the production of cement has been designated as a
major greenhouse gas source.
Worldwide, the production of Portland cement alone accounts for 6-8%
of human-generated carbon dioxide.
CO2
- most attributed as the source of global warming.
The generally accepted rule that the creation of one ton of cement
releases one ton of carbon dioxide into the earth’s atmosphere.
Environmental Benefits
-
Reduces greenhouse gases by optimizing the
performance of Portland cement.
-
Preserves
landfill space
-
Extends raw material availability
-
Captures the latest technology to improve the
future for all living things.
Structural Benefits
-
Optimizes Portland cement performance and
provides durability and placement benefits
-
Reduces shrinkage (reducing crack potential) and
increasing durability.
-
Offers greater control over hardening rates,
providing an opportunity to improve structural integrity.
-
Increases a building’s environmental performance
rating, providing additional opportunity for LEED credit
qualification.
Opportunity & Responsibility
We can be a
contributor to the problem
….
or a contributor to the solution.
We can demonstrate to our communities our commitment to the
environment…. or we can be somewhat committed and lose our
opportunity and our credibility.
We can continue to
lead the industry through change….
or wait for some global vertically integrated competitor’s marketing
machine to put their “spin” on OUR message.
What is our Message??
Partnership with our customers in preserving our
world.
